Somerset

The Somerset Area Ambulance Association, Pine Grill, and UPMC are partnering in support of Minutes Matter, a UPMC community initiative.  The purpose of the Minutes Matter partnership is to provide Somerset and the surrounding communities with important emergency education and information related to cardiac events, overdoses, uncontrolled bleeding, and mental health.

Minutes Matter officially launched in Somerset during a free emergency educational event held at the Somerset Area Ambulance Association.

“We serve a rural area, so when we get an emergency call, it might be five minutes or 30 minutes to get there,” says John Jordan, ambulance association director. “Everyday people are changing the outcomes in people’s lives.”

Minutes Matter in the Somerset Community

Have you ever seen what Narcan® nasal spray looks like or learned how to apply an AED? Would you know how to help give chest compressions to someone in cardiac arrest? UPMC experts will be onsite at community events and activities throughout Somerset to help bring visibility to these life-saving interventions, talk more about how important training is, and give people opportunities to see how they could help save a life.
